"APOCRYPHA"
November 22, 2025
"APOCRYPHA" is meant to be an intellectual and contemplative gospel-like, call and response album, inviting the listener to follow along the storyline of mother, man, sex, religion, politics, death and Christ. It is a critical analysis and reflection of "man" through the mirror of "mother/woman/nature", the reflection of Israeli-Palestinian conflict through the mirror of Political Christian Nationalism, and vice versa.

The story of "APOCRYPHA" carries the Biblical theme of Israel's unfaithfulness, idolatry, political corruption and exile. This theme culminates in Beck West's collaborative rendition of "BREATHE/PROPHESY" in which she explores this manifest reality in the Christian Nationalist movement, mega-church culture and U.S. covenantal-political involvement with apartheid Israel.

Opening with "Sacred Mirror" and "Mom's Song", the tone is set for the story as seen through the eyes of "woman", of "mother".
Following with "River Wind" and "The Call of the Void" to represent sex and birth, "APOCRYPHA" carries you into the imagery of lust, stolen innocence, political and religious violence.
When you arrive at "Clay Man - Maskil" (a signaled psalm intended for instruction and reflection), Beck poses the question to man of existence. The following "Seal of Solomon" is a Selah (make instruments louder).
"Voice Inside Me - Gate of the Sun" sings of the spiritual molestation of corrupt, lustful church leadership who lie, slander and steal to maintain power. It illuminates the connection of the American, Corporate church as the whore of Babylon, Babylon being the United States. The term "Gate of the Sun" is a reference to a street name of one such corporate church, but is also a nod to the story of Mary in Revelation 12, "..the woman clothed in the sun", and the "dragon who wages war against her offspring", Mary acting as the "Gate of the Son", Christ.
